Create and Customize NPOFundraisers
Last updated: July 13, 2026
Campaign fundraisers let you raise money toward a goal, organize donations under a single page, and (optionally) power peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising where supporters create their own pages that roll up to yours.
This article walks through creating a campaign fundraiser and explains every setting on the Create Campaign Fundraiser screen.
Before you start
Make sure you know:
The display name and goal amount you want to raise.
Which designation (fund) donations should be applied to.
Whether this fundraiser is part of a larger structure (a parent fundraiser, or one that will have child fundraisers).
Whether you want supporters to create their own P2P fundraisers under this one.
Create a fundraiser
In the left navigation, go to Fundraisers.
Click Create (or Create Campaign Fundraiser).
Fill in the fields described below.
Save to publish your fundraiser.
Fundraiser details
Display name of fundraiser (required)
The public-facing name of your fundraiser. This appears as the page title, so make it clear and recognizable to donors.
Description of fundraiser
A short description shown on the fundraiser page. Use it to explain the cause, the goal, and why someone should give.
Goal
The dollar amount you're aiming to raise. This drives the progress bar and goal display on the fundraiser page. Leave it at 0.00 if you don't want to set a goal.
Parent fundraiser
Search for and select an existing fundraiser to nest this one beneath. Use this when the fundraiser is part of a larger campaign and its totals should roll up to a parent.
Child fundraisers section title
An optional heading for the section that lists fundraisers created under this one. If left blank, a default title is used.
Designation
Search for and select the designation (fund) that donations to this fundraiser will be applied to. This determines where the money is allocated in your accounting.
Schedule
Start date
The date the fundraiser becomes active. Leave blank to make it active immediately.
End date
The date the fundraiser closes. See Allow donations after end date below to control what happens once this date passes.
Donation and display options
These toggles control how the fundraiser page behaves and what visitors see. The defaults shown below match the standard Create Campaign Fundraiser screen.
Only accept donations from P2P fundraising — Default: No
When turned on, the donate button is removed from the fundraiser page, so donations can only come in through peer-to-peer fundraisers created under it. Turn this on when you want all giving to flow through your fundraisers rather than the main page.
Show leader board — Default: Yes
Lists the leading donors from this fundraiser and any child fundraisers. Turn off to hide the leaderboard.
Show activity — Default: Yes
Lists all donations made to this fundraiser and any child fundraisers, creating a live activity feed. Turn off to hide it.
Show child fundraisers — Default: Yes
Lists and links to the child fundraisers that supporters create under this one. Turn off if you don't want those pages surfaced.
Show parent fundraiser — Default: Yes
Displays a link back to the parent fundraiser. Turn off to hide the link.
Hide fundraise button — Default: No
When turned on, hides the button visitors use to create their own P2P fundraisers. Turn this on if you don't want supporters launching new fundraisers under this one.
Allow donations after end date — Default: No
When turned on, participants can keep donating even after the fundraiser's end date has passed. Leave off to stop accepting donations once the fundraiser closes.
Tips for setting up P2P fundraising
If you want supporters to fundraise on your behalf:
Leave Hide fundraise button off so supporters can create their own pages.
Keep Show child fundraisers on so those pages are visible and linked.
Consider turning on Only accept donations from P2P fundraising if you want every gift attributed to a supporter's page rather than the main fundraiser.
Editing a fundraiser
You can update any of these settings after creating the fundraiser. Open the fundraiser from the Fundraisers list, adjust the fields, and save. Changes apply to the live page immediately.
