Enabling Recurring Plan Management in the Donor Portal (Dashboard V2)
Last updated: July 13, 2026
This guide walks you through letting your supporters view and manage their recurring giving plans from their donor portal. There are two parts: making the Recurring Plans page visible in the portal, and (optionally) allowing donors to manage their offline recurring plans.
Before you start
You'll need access to Profile Settings in your WeGive dashboard.
Step 1: Show the Recurring Plans page in the portal menu
This makes the Recurring Plans page available to donors so they can review and update their active plans.
Go to Profile Settings.
Open the Navigation tab.
Find the Recurring Plans row.
Turn on Include in menu so it appears in the portal navigation menu.
(Optional) Turn on Include in header to also surface it in the portal header.
Once enabled, signed-in donors will see Recurring Plans in their portal and can update details like amount, frequency, payment method, designation, and end date on their active plans.
Step 2: Allow donors to manage offline recurring plans
An offline recurring plan is one without a saved payment method on file (for example, a plan originally set up to be paid by cash or check). By default, donors cannot manage these plans. Turning this setting on lets donors add and confirm a payment method so the plan can continue.
Go to Profile Settings.
Open the Advanced Settings tab.
Select Recurring from the left-hand list.
Under Offline Recurring Plans, choose one of the following:
No, lock offline recurring plan management. (default) — Donors cannot edit or confirm payment information on offline plans.
Yes, allow donors to edit and confirm payment information on their offline recurring plans. — Donors can add and confirm a payment method on their offline plans.
What donors see when this is enabled
When a donor signs in and has an offline recurring plan that is missing a payment method, the portal prompts them with a message:
Oops! You are missing a payment method. You are currently missing a payment method on your recurring plan, please click here to confirm your payment method.
They can choose Confirm My Payment Method to add one now, or Do This Later to dismiss the prompt.
Step 3 (Optional): Restrict designations on recurring edits
If you want to limit which designations donors can choose when editing a recurring plan that has no assigned checkout, use the Recurring Plan Edit Checkout setting:
In Advanced Settings → Recurring, find Recurring Plan Edit Checkout.
Use the Recurring Edit Checkout search field to select the checkout whose designation options should apply.
When set, donors editing a plan without an assigned checkout will only see the designations allowed by that checkout.
Saving your changes
Be sure to save your changes before leaving Portal Settings. Your updates take effect for donors the next time they sign in to the portal.
Troubleshooting
Donors don't see the Recurring Plans page. Confirm Include in menu is turned on under Navigation, and that the donor is signed in to their portal.
The "confirm payment method" prompt isn't appearing. This prompt only shows for donors who have an offline recurring plan that is missing a payment method, and only when Offline Recurring Plans is set to "Yes." Donors with an active payment method already on file won't see it.
